How to eliminate Gnome-Panel ?
Hi all,
My system is Suse 10.2 64bit with KDE, and i was taking a look at my folders.. and i cliked on the gnome-panel, now i got both panels running, KDE's and Gnome's. Even after a Reboot it keeps running again, where can i change the configuration to never load gnome-panel again ?
Thanks

When i log as Root its not there, so i think i must remove it from some config file for that specific user... some file who runs apps when the session starts

Wierd, but worked...
Logged in as the user with the gnome-panel running on KDE, i used Gnome-System-Monitor, then killed the gnome-panel, and now it is not starting anymore...
But i got curious, anyone knows where the start up settings are located for a specific user?
Another doubt i have, what the hell are this " .something " folders ?
like "/home/username/.mozilla or /.kde or /.alotofthings" and why it's not shown on Konqueror?

These are mostly configuration files/folders for the various apps you have installed. The are hidden so that "users" won't see them and modify them with out sufficient privlages to do so.
Remember that Unix like OS's are multi-user by design. (unlike Windoz) This allows the administrator to set up and control applications for the user and keep the users fingers off the configurations.

gogalthorp:
Thanks for the information, about this multiuser stuff its great, i worked with Windows Client / Server stuff too but Linux rock it all. I think i'm gonna put Linux on my moms computer so she doesnt messup and call me to solve her problems all the time ;P
My konqueror on SuperUser mode do not show me the dot stuff, and even with normal user Konqueror i can access this folder by typing the address. While i type Konqueror shows me the existence of this files on root or normal user. The thing is it would be nice to see it directly on the Konqueror window... even if it's only on Root. Is there a set up for that?

In Konqueror, go to View and select Show Hidden Folders.
