A few things you could try:
    1. Make sure cds aren't corrupted. i.e. either run a md5sum check in windows by using fsum or try running the installer on another machine (but don't install) i.e. see if you get further on another machine than on your laptop.

    2. Other than that, when the "install selection" screen loads, try passing ide=nodma option to the installer. i.e type in ide=nodma and hit install.

Also, don't worry about the 32/64 bit warning, as a 32 bit OS will work just fine on a 64 bit CPU.
Life is complex, it has a real part and an imaginary part.

    Hi zadreamer !!

    Welcome to the LinuxForums !

in case, AlexK's suggestion doesn't work, you have to Load IDE module manually.
when SuSe displays error message, it drops you in Manual Installation Mode. go to Load Modules --> IDE --> ide-generic. Leave the parameters field blank. go back and resume installation.

when Suse reboots after an install, it has to boot through the installed system, but again it doesnt find the hard disk. so, again go to rescue and load the module.... boot the installed system. your installation will be complete.

you have to create new initrd file for normal boot up. first of all, follow these instructions and install SuSe. i will post instructions for normal boot up.

    there are a few workarounds...
try setting your SATA controller (in the BIOS) to "compatibility mode" (or "legacy mode").
Upgrade BIOS if possible. but i am not sure if upgrading will sort out this problem. BIOS upgrade works in 50% cases. you should check Motherboard manufacturer's website for latest BIOS and upgrading instructions.
    check here too.

in case, nothing works, try lastest version of SuSe, 10.2.
