java install
I am new to linux and i need step by step instructions on how to install java 1.5 on my computer. I am running suse linux 10.1 and I have the gnome desktop. My web browser is firefox. I am having trouble installing and downloading java and i have no clue what i am supposed to do. I am starting to get very frusterated because i have been trying to put java on for the last week.
Thank you very much for all your help!

How are you entering them into Yast?
You enter the site portion of the URL in the first field for server
Then you enter the directory string in the next field.
I don't know why they choose to do it this way it gets everyone the first time

I typed it as
Server name: mirrors.kernel.org
pub/opensuse/distribution/sl-10.1/inst-source-java/
Is this right?

I still keep getting the same "unable to create installation source" screen. Is there any other way to install java?
- 12-20-2006 #9I think java is on the "5th" disk.

java wasn't on the 5th disc and the yast instructions are not working. I have tried all of the mirrors and I am getting really frusterated. Does any one have exact step by step instructions on how to install java on suse linux 10.1?
thank you.
