    (Noob) Nvidia Driver Problem

    Hello again,
I followed the instructions like the sticky thread on the driver installation said to install the nvidia drivers in order to enable 3D acceleration. Upon following the directions, following the Nvidia splash screen, the screen goes blank[well sort of, just mostly white and black, when you change your resolution]. I hear the beep that previously played when the log in prompt came up, and i was able to get into the GUI because i blindy typed my username and password. The thing is, im not able to see the log in screen nor the password prompt, so I do it blindly. I am currently using the GUI, and when i try to get into Sax2, it does not come up. I am wondering if i did anything wrong or what i can do to resolve the problem. Thank you very much and I apologize in advance if this is a trivial and recurring problem.
    Specs:

    RAM: Corsais 2GB PC2-6400

    Just re-install.

    note any errors.

    Just double sure

You entered a console by pressing ALT-CTRL-F1 or F2 etc

    logged in as root.

then shutdown the GUi (init 3) before installing

type init 5 or startx to restart the gui

I just installed the driver with Yast by adding the nvidia repository, once installed, just log out and log back in. Everything should work just fine. There should be an Nvidia icon in the Kmenu-applications-system-configuration. Hope this helps. My hardware in similar to yours, so, should wrok just fine. I'm using 10.2 though.

Down load the RPM from NVidia follow their instruction. You can also use Yast. Be sure you get the right driver for your card(s)
