openSuse 10.2, sees my hard disk but not the partition on it!

Hi. I have a fresh install of suse and it won't mount a hard disk partition. It sees the hard disk fine but thinks all the space is free (when it isn';t i've checked in windows). it mounts all otehr three hard disks fine (vfat and ntfs).

My guess is that it's trying to use a software raid on it because the hard disk is called /dev/mapper/pdc_cadbgicfgg. In partitioner all the space on it is shown as free.

another thing to note is that the hard disk suse is installed on has a similar name :/dev/mapper/pdc_hhidahihh and all the partitions on it are /dev/mapper/pdc_hhidahihh_part1 /dev/mapper/pdc_hhidahihhpart2 etc.

If anyone has any info on this it's really annoying me. All four hard disks work fine in fedora, mandriva, and windows. i'm using kernel 2.6.18.2-34-default

    any help is appreciated
