Unable to get DHCP IPAddress
I'm wonderig if anyone has any idea why a clean install of OpenSUSE 10.2 would fail to get a DHCP ip address?
I have an NForce Pro based motherboard with dual gigabit adapters. On the off chance that it SUSE had a problem with the CK804 chipset from NVidia, I installed a PCI Intel E1000 NIC... and the Intel NIC will not get an IP address either!
I'm using a LinkSys WRT54G v4 router to lease IP addresses, and have a static entry for the Intel NIC's MAC.
I could really use a few ideas... as I'm all out!
Thanks,
Gerhard

Do you have the modules for these cards loaded? Do you have pump or another dhcp client running?

The DHCP client claims it can not connect to the DHCP server...
For giggles I added an Intel E1000 based workstation card to see what would happen, and it can't get out either... and I KNOW the modules are loaded for that card.
So now I'm confused...

And can another machine on the same network get its address from dhcp?

Absolutely,
I've got 3 Windows based systems, 1 HP Jet Direct based NIC, and one Cisco ATA-86 that are all getting IP addresses.
One of the Windows machines IS the same Linux box, but with a different removable drive installed. The BIOS and hardware configuration is exactly the same...
This is why I'm so perplexed. Some of the Linux distros I've tried have no problem, but SUSE, even with the NVidia updates, just isn't working.
