after a nasty shock while plugging a USB device into the back of my aging Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop, the console in Linux is now always flooded with
over-currrent change on port 1
even without any USB device plugged in..
I can live without USB support for a bit until I order a new laptop (2-3 months), but the machine is sluggish as it logs this message several times a second.
I'm hoping I can add a command-line parameter to Grub's Boot Loader Settings in YaST (optional command-line parameters) to disable the USB controllers completely.
On a desktop PC I would just disable them in BIOS, but this Dell's Laptop BIOS no so such option.

Any simple ideas?
I'm still a Linux semi-noob...but getting there.
