    64-bit Flash Player Solution

I'm sure this has been asked and answered, but my searches came up dry.

I'm running SuSE 10.0 on an AMD 64-bit machine and, of course, Adobe has seen fit not to port their 64-bit Flash player to Linux for some reason which I do not understand. What are others doing to get around this problem and view flash content on their 64-bit machines in Linux? Does anyone understand why Adobe is dragging their feet on this issue?

    Thanks.

Just follow the install instructions. Note this will fail but it will extract the two files you need.

    flashplayer.xpt and libflashplayer.so

    copy these files to

    /usr/lib/firefox/plugins

That should do it. the problem is in the installer. It does not like 64 bit

So, where can I go to get the player? Going to the Adobe site, I get "We don't have a player for your platform. Too bad, sucker..." Well, maybe not quite all that, but you get my drift.

    Thanks.

Get the 32 bit Linux one . Note Firefox is 32 bit.

    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/

    Don't believe everthing you read

    install_flash_player_7_linux.tar.gz

extract the needed files just copy them to you plugin directory.

    The installer will fail

OK, I did as you said. When I did the copy, there is no /usr/lib/firefox, but there is a /usr/lib64/firefox so I put the file in the plugins subfolder there. I then went to the "Test Adobe Shockwave & Flash Players" site and it still tells me that I am missing the plugin. FWIW, I am using Firefox V1.5.0.2. I can't update to V2 because my son's online school isn't compatible yet.

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks.

When I installed the 64 bit myplayer I got it from packman. But I couldn't find the mplayerplug-in for Firefox.

So I used the the latest i586 mplayerplug-in package from Packman.

Also Don't forget to install w32codec-all.

Then go to this folder.... your name@linux-navb:~> ls /usr/lib/browser-plugins

And you need to have these files in that folder.

    flashplayer.xpt mplayerplug-in-gmp.xpt mplayerplug-in-wmp.so
    libflashplayer.so mplayerplug-in-qt.so mplayerplug-in-wmp.xpt
    libjavaplugin_oji.so mplayerplug-in-qt.xpt mplayerplug-in.xpt
    mplayerplug-in-dvx.so mplayerplug-in-rm.so nphelix.so
    mplayerplug-in-dvx.xpt mplayerplug-in-rm.xpt nphelix.xpt
    mplayerplug-in-gmp.so mplayerplug-in.so nppdf.so

If not find and copy them into that folder.

Once again, I did these things to no avail. Again, instead of /usr/lib, the files all live in /usr/lib64, but this seems like it makes sense since we're talking about an x86_64 installation ... or am I missing something more basic here?

Let me reiterate that everything we've discussed to date, Firefox, Mplayer, etc is located in /usr/lib64, not /usr/lib.

I just want to make sure we're all on the same page here.

    Thanks for the help.

OK, I put the list of files in /usr/lib/browser-plugins. That didn't work either.

    Mine works the path is

    /usr/lib/firefox/plugins

The only files are the two flash files and one called libnullplugin.so

No need to copy mplayer files I simple installed mplayer via Yast along with the other multimedia files, like w32codec-all. etc
