    "Access denied" when installing apps

    Hello everyone!

I have an urgent question about Linux Suse 10.2. You see I'm a total beginner with Linux and I've figured out how to install apps on my system via the terminal and so forth but whenever I try to install an application I get a "access denied" error message. I also get a access denied when ever I try to enter the cd by hand.

I've read about this with other people but apperntly they just "log in" as "root" and I have no clue how to do this. Now I feel that I've tried everything and my Linux using future is in your hands now.

    Any answers are appreciated.

*EDIT* I solved it myself I didn't have a clue about the "su" command.

open the folder where ur application in present ,open the folder in terminal
then type su command and press enter
then enter the root password and now continue with the installation

If u log in as root u can continue ur installation with out any restrictions
