Thumbs down Unplugging Latop and computer goes from 1.6 GHz to 600 Mhz

    Hi,

My laptop has OpenSuse 10.1 installed, and if I boot it up while plugged in, the power manager says it's running @ 1.6 Ghz. If I unplug the laptop, it will go to power save mode, and scale back the processor to 600 Mhz. If I plug the lap top back in, it will not go back to 1.6GHz -- even if I click on the icon in the task bar to change back to performance settings, and even if I go in and manually adjust the settings.

What is going on and how do I fix this?

    Thanks,

    Dan

    if I read this aright

Intel recommends using the Linux kernel module known to
.config as CPU_FREQ (in "power management options").
    See /usr/src/linux/Documentation/cpu-freq/* for some
    docs.

That is a power saving feature. If you don't want it go to Yast> Software Management > Search for CPU and uninstall cpufreqs. Reboot.
