    XWindows Trouble! Please Help.

    Hi everone,

I'll confirm my new-ness to linux by confessing that I have either uninstalled or destroyed somehow XWindows on my system.

I am using Suse Linux 10.1 Remastered, 64 bit, AMD 3400+, Nvidia 6800GS, Albatron K8X800 Pro II v2.0 motherboard.

So I was attempting to update my Nvidia drivers through YAST, I clicked the button next to the relevant driver so that it appeared as a green lightning bolt-like symbol. I thought that set it to update but I must have been wrong.

Now when I start Suse I go into text-only mod, if I type kde to start that up it says "Display not found". So, I assume I have destroyed xwindows or uninstalled it.

If anyone can help me get started on fixing this that would be great. Would it be a solution to access package management from the command line? Then I could reinstall xwindows. Any advice on how to do that if it is viable would also be great.

    Thanks in advance.

    Probably not.

You might have messed with the vidio driver though. Try running sax2 as root from the command line.
