I don't want to be mean, but I really don't understand the Linux sound concept. Before you get angry with me, listen to me, please. Under Windows you have fine programs for multitrack audio and MIDI recording. I only need to wire up my guitar and keyboard and thats it. With my present configuration of Intel -D 2666MHz, 512MB I can simultaneously hear and record at least 10 tracks. The situation is totally different with Suse 10.0. I have Audacity, Ardour, Rosegarden for music making but still I cannot record more than 1 audio track, and nothing for MIDI. The JACK server is a nightmare. It takes eternity to set it up, no possibilities to save the connection scheme, it's absolutely confusing. It's like you'd have a Ferrari and had to drive with 10 km/h. Something went terribly wrong, but I'm not an expert so I'm asking is there any resonable solution under Linux. And if it is, which distro? Why is impossibile to implement the Win Sound principle under Linux?
Don't say I'm free to use another OS, cos that wouldn't be an answer!
