Wont boot from cd or floppy

I have an old computer that had windows 98 on it, but I just erased the hard drive so that I could install Suse 10.1. The only problem is, my computer wont boot from either the cd or the floppy. In the bios, I set first boot drive as floppy and second as cd, but it still wont work. I am not very expirienced in this area, so excuse me if this is a bad question. How can I install Suse 10.1 (I have the cds) if I can't boot from cd, or how can I get my computer to boot from a cd?

    Thanks for any help.

By the way, it would not boot from floppy when I had windows installed either, and I did not try cd, but assumed it would work. I have a tangent computer with a 800 mhz processor if that helps.

Make the CD as the first boot device should work. Make sure you save the configuartion when you change it. It also could be a BIOS problem, but where you could get an updated one I wouldn't know.

Also did the floppy used to work at all?? A new floopy drive is cheap $10-15

Thanks! I changed the first boot drive to the cd and changed one other bios option, and it worked smoothly. Sorry for posting a problem that is so easily solved, but I did not think the order of the boot drives mattered that much as long as there was nothing in the lower ranking drives. Anyway, thanks a lot!
