    SuSe 10.2 wifi problem

Hi, I am new in Linux.
Just had a little experience in SuSe 10 Enterprise. I used ndiswrapper for my d-link usb adapter. And when I installed opensuse 10.2 it installed the driver by itself. Which is awesome. Everything is fine, but after few minutes of using internet browser gives me an error, that it cannot find a host. It happens only if I use browser, in other case (gaim, online installs/updates) it works fine.
    Here is my iwconfig output:
    Code:
    lo no wireless extensions.

    wmaster0 IEEE 802.11g Frequency:2.437 GHz
              RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2346 B

    wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"MAX"
              Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:15:E9:1C:DB:B4
              RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2346 B
              Encryption key:off

    sit0 no wireless extensions.

    Thank you.

when the host not found error occurs, can you post back what this returns:
    Code:
    dmesg | tail
    ping -c 4 www.google.com

Two more things. The problem is probably in browser. It happenes only if I use Opera or Firefox, Conqueror works fine (but it is very basic browser).
And I just cannot type "google.com" in address field to go to the website, I have to type "www.google.com". Doesn't look fine to me.

Thanks for reply, I will try as soon as I will be home.

Probably the problem is fixed. No internet failures for few hours, after I installed some updates.

"gmesg | tail" output, don't know whether it's good or bad.

    few things you could try:
    1. Disable ipv6, there are some posts floating around these forums showing how to do that.
    2. Disable encryption on your network to see if it helps. If it does, then gradually bring up i.e. No encryption -> WEP -> WPA...

    1. I was thinking about IP v.6, but I think it wouldn't help me a lot.
    2. That is a problem, I need secure wireless network, I know how easy to hack it, but it is still not useless =).

Thanks for advices. Internet still working, probably I just needed a good update =)

Any particular reason why disabling ipv6 may not help? (Just curios, that's all)

I don't know, it is supposed to work since it is on be default settings. And I had no problem with it in 10 version of SuSE. Any particular reason why disabling ipv6 may help? =)

By the way, when i install eclipse my internet goes down, cannot even access my router. Anyone had that problem before?

Some people report that after disabling ipv6 they can surf internet normally, personally I have not had to do it as it hasn't affected me..

As for your ecclipse problem, the problem would lie with the NIC as you may not be connected.

Ahhh, I'm going to cry now =)
The problem is up again. Tried everything, disabled IpV6, tried different encryptions ( may connect only with WAP-PSK =)) ).
May be someone else is using D-Link DWL G122? It is all what I can think of, wlan adapter driver. By default it was installed as rt2500usb, probably should be fine (as said on ndiswrapper wiki). But when I load SUSE it sais: "WPA is configured, but may not be supported by the device".
