Suse 9.3 Pro Install Help..Newbie's Lost

Sorry I am sure this is common but this is my first attempt at Linux install.
Installed first CD1 had some packages fail but did not say failed install.
Went to reboot comes to login screen, tried to boot CD2 it goes to grub screen.or a blue login sceen that has logo simply change.
I never had a chance to make a login name or password.
What is the proper way to set the login?
    Can I enter defaults?
What do I do or did I do wrong.
    Tried every different type install.
    Mobo is Intel
    Ram is 512
I let Linux install do the partitioning
    Windows is Fat 32
    What else?

There are no enough information to help you - I cannot understand what was happends.

Perhaps you could try to install some other distribution, or if you paid for it, call SuSE support.

Thanks for a replay Mr Dean. I did buy the cd's but from Ebay not Linux so I have to go without support. My main problem is I don't know when to or how to use the CD2 which is when I believe you do the configuring, password's hardware etc...
I only can go as far as end of CD1.
I really don't know what else to tell you's, if anyone has specific questions to ask then I will try to provide the answers.
