    yast2tftp
    yast2support
    yast2nfsclient

    yast2ldap client
    yast2kerbos client
    yast2security
    yast2dhcp server
    yast2repair
    yast2dns server
    yast2 installation
    yast2 sysconfig
    yast2tv
    yast2nfs server
    yast2 backup
    yast2 samba server
    yast2 nis server

noarch means that the software is architecture independent and that is a good thing and not related to your problem.

More info would be a big help here.

At what specific point in the installation do you see these errors? During the install of CD 1 or 2 or 3 or are you using a DVD? It is possible that you have a defective CD/DVD. It sounds like you bought the SUSE boxed package. If so and assuming both CD's and DVD
are included have you tried with both? I've done many installs of 9.2, 9.3, 10.1 and 10.2 and I've never seen that problem.

If you can think of anything else that you may have done during the installation you were not sure about it might help to know that as well.

The errors are throughout the entire CD 1 installation. I can't get to CD2 it won't boot or install, it went one time to a blue screen but would not function.Very frustrating all I want to be able to do is get a user name and password. I can conquer installing applications later. I just did a test and it almost went to the CD2 with my other burner I did not buy the DVD because my DVD burner gives me trouble so went with CD's.
The first file that stalls is the yast2 theme and the list goes on.
I tried stalling the reboot after install and switching to CD2 that is how I got it to go to the next part but it would not work.
I will keep trying but my 20 hrs have been a waste of time, learning curve aye!!!
I have learned mac to begin with and then PC yuk, now on to Linux but so far the expereince has not been so good.

My mobo is Intel R Celeron 2.9
Video is Leadtek A340T which I believe is generic NividiA
    rAM 512
mONITOR IS A oRCHESTRA sTEEL DRUM korean something

Only thing stopping me from OSX is a good shiny new mac as usual.

    Cheers....

It looks to me like you've got either a bad CD or CD drive.

Boy! Does that sound so familiar!

In my case it was with Mandrake v8x, CDs which I made the mistake of purchsing via eBay, a mistake I'll not make again. I to wasted a lot of time trying to get the OS to install, only to finally realize the fault was with the poor qualilty CDs used by a "third party" trying to make a buck or two via eBay and not me or my, now old but still very reliable Dell Latitude Cpi 300; (has Mandrake v7.0 on it, which still works very well!)

I suspect that the reply above "hit the nail on the head" when it was suggested that you have some "bad" CDs and I suggest that your best bet would be at this point in time would be to toss 'em. It's not worth the grief and aggrivation to continue with them. Just toss 'em and be done with them.

With that said and in mind, may I suggest that you look for a good used (and probably by now, very inexpensive) set of "original" Suse v10.0 CDs, the "Professional" version. I offer this as experience has shown me, that while not perfect, this particular Linux OS, for a new Linux user, is as good or better than anything else out there' ... and note, stay away from Suse v10.1. I've read of too many instances with problems with that particular version of Suse, and saying that, I'm sure there are others who are far more experienced with Linux than I, who when reading this will raise and eyebrow or two.

    Hope this helps some.

Yes, 10.1 has significant problems with the installation because of issues with the ZenWorks integration as well as some lockup issues. However, after a couple of weeks using 10.2 I can say it's a major improvement.
