Is there a site that newbie questions don't seem so trivial

- 01-15-2007 #2We have quite a variety of people on these forums, with varied levels of Linux experience. You're welcome to ask your questions, regardless of how trivial you may think they are.

- 01-15-2007 #3I can understand where you're coming form Leggs. There are a lot of people on this forum who are asking what seem like legitimate questions, that get redirected to another thread or who are answered in a somewhat crude manner. But no matter how novice you think your Linux skills are, you're more than welcome to hone those skills on this forum, no matter the response from the community. I think a lot of questions get answered in a way that makes it seem like what the original person was asking is stupid, but I don't think that was the intention of the person who responded to their question. Most people on here welcome the prospect of new users to the Linux community and would happily answer whatever questions they have if it helps them get on the right path. Everybody has to start somewhere, right?

As the above posters have stated already there are Linux fans of ALL abilities on Linux Forums and similar sites.
The whole point of such forums is to provide help, education and support to every member. If we all knew Linux inside out then this excellent community resource just would not be required.
My advice to you and other newcomers to Linux is to search the forums for the topic you require and if you do not understand any part of the submitted replies then send your own question, no matter how trivial you believe it to be.
You have taken a major step already by sending this post so please continue in the same vein. Nobody is going to humiliate you or patronise you.
I have only recently started to submit posts myself as I begin to understand more about Linux and openSUSE 10.2 in particular.
So, welcome to Linux Forums Leggs and get those posts sent in pronto.

For what it's worth, experience has shown me that this one isn't all that bad with regard to answering questions from new Linux users but there are plenty of other Linux pages out there and you are encouraged to check them out - but beware - experience has shown me that many Linux "help" pages are laden with Linux "experts", individuals who admittedly sound like they know what their talking about when it comes to Linux but when it comes to talking with humans - these individuals are more at ease when "talking" with their machines than they are when talking with real people ... but do ask your questions here. Even I might actually be able to help once in a while.
