Realtek Wireless Card Driver Install Help
I installed SUSE 10.2 last night, so I am very much a noob, so very basic instructions will help.
I am trying to install drivers for my Wireless card, which is a Realtek RTL8187 Wireless Network Adapter. I downloaded the Linux drivers from the Realtek web site. The Instalation instructions in the ReadMe seem very simple, but again I will say I am very much a noob, so I don't even know where to start. The instructions are as follows:
< Installation >
Runing the scripts can finish all operations of building up modules
from the source code and start the nic.
1. Build up the drivers from the source code
./makedrv
2. load the driver module to kernel and start up nic
./wlan0up
(EDIT: I have been working on this for a little bit, so now I have some more specific questions. When i try to use the command ./makedrv it tells me 'permission denied'. It seems that I don't have permission to do many things unless I am first prompted to enter my root password. How do I enable administrator privileges if I am not prompted? I'm browsing the forums for more help and figuring it out. Still help would be appreciated.)
