    Question Unable to login to SUSE 10.1 GUI ??

    I have a problem with my SuSE 10.1 . I'm unable to login to the GUI from the startup screen(login screen). but I can login to terminal Window with the same root login (ctrl+alt+f1) .

    ERROR Msg : Kstartupconfig file could not be loaded or so .... ? Can anyone help me to sort this out ???

    Hi try this

    first press ctrl+alt+f3 enter as root & then go to init3 & log in again as root with a pass word you gave give command ps ax see what is running & give me the exact error which is there.

    I dont have my SuSE Machine wit me nw... but i knw the error msg was like this "Could not start kstartupconfig...-lease check your Installation"...

    execute this
    Code:
    chown -R username:group /home/username
    here username is your login name and group is probably "users". execute 'id' command and check it first.
