silent splash not displayed during boot
opensuse 10.2. MBR got screwy, so I reinstalled GRUB into mbr - kept the same menu.lst, stage2, stage1.5 files. I did not make any changes to them. Suse boots and runs very well, except it does not obey the 'splash=silent' command. IIRC, splash=silent should display the blue opensuse logo, with a chameleon with spinning lights around its head. However, this doesn't show. Instead, i see output (from the kernel?) in white text on black screen, and the resolution is nasty low (probably 800X600, where my screen can exceed 1400+ in both dimensions.) I can vaguely remember a parameter similar to 'vga=0x083' or something along those lines. I don't remeber changing anything in menu.lst to remove the splash screen. Can somebody explain how to get it back? Which files do you need me to output here?
