flash drive
Dear All
I am using Suse 10.0. It can detect my flash drive, but can not eject it.
I searched forum ( http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/sus...t=flash+drive).
But I still could not figure out. When I try to type "fdisk -l" it says there is no such command.
When I try to sth with "fstab", but it seems that there is no such directory. Do I have to be a root? Besides how to add flash drive (or whatever external hard ware to fstab file?)
Thank you for your advice!

How can you not eject it? Is there no option to? Does it give an error message?

Here is the srror message
umount:/media/usbdisk is not in the fstab ( and you are not root)
Do I have to be root?
I tried as a root and type like the following:
#umount media/usbdisk
it seems that the USB is removed ( Because I can not get access to the files on the USB), but the light on the USB is still on.
Then I try to mount it again:
# mount media/usbdisk
and I get the error message:
mount: can't find /media/usbdisk in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab
( Ususally I just insert the USB and SUSE can detect it automatically)

When you insert do you see it on the desktop (BTW KDE/Gnome??)
If so right click on the icon and select "safely remove"
The icon should go away. you can now remove it.

That's exactly what I did:
I insert USB, it automatically appeared in "my Computer" on desktop. When I tied to remobe it (as what you said, right click on the icon and select "safely remove"
), the following error message appears:
umount:/media/usbdisk is not in the fstab ( and you are not root)
Maybe sth is wrong with the system?
