The Window Was Left Open, You let all the bugs in.

    Hello,

I recently snapped my Windows disks in half because of the countless times ive run into errors with the Windows Operating System. This time was the last straw. I recently downloaded SUSE 10.0 And I have my computer ready to burn it. But its not in ISO format, its just a file folder. I need to know if I can install Linux into the partition that i have for it. With just the file folder. Or does it need to be an ISO. Im guessing it needs to have some sort of Auto Run Feature? And dont worry, you can talk geek to me, Im experienced with this sort of hard labor in switching around OS's.

    Thanks,

    Joe

I think you need an ISO.....
The install disk needs to be bootable.

Also blow away that partition you have set aside. It should be free space. Normally Suse will create three partitions which mount as swap, / (root), and home. If you have any special data needs such a VMware I suggest a fourth but you need to manually set that up on install. For me I mount the fourth as VM and I store my virtual machines there. To avoid problems you should allow the install to create the needed partitions from free space.
