    try using linux hardening utilities like bastille-linux, etc.. to harden ur system

    I unfortunately don't have an answer for you. But could you please telle me which distribution you have and what you did to get this unsecure setting? AFAIK no distri creates this kind of unsecure Linux system during instalation
