Question Thunderbird on SUSE Linux 10.2

I have just installed SUSE LInux 10.2 and have downloaded Thunderbird's latest version 2.0 Beta2. The problem is that I have the files (.tar.gz), but cannot make it run. I have also tried downloading a previous version of Thunderbird with the same result.

If anyone knows of a straightforward way to install, I would be much obliged. I need step-by-step instructions.

Alternatively, if anyone knows of a site where one could download Thunderbird which installs itself on SUSE Linux 10.2, please let me know.

    Thank you.

Thunderbird should be on the installation disks ( maybe disk 5). Unless you want or need the the absolute latest I'd recomend just installing it from Yast eitherr from the install disks or from your Suse repository.

Thumbs up Thunderbird is ready to go... (i feel like virgil)

Just extract the tar ball (tgz)

You should find a script called thunderbird ( i havent checked latest beta)
    Which starts the executable.

I don't have any installation disks. Perhaps you know of a site with TB.

I have extracted the files already. I could not find any file which would make it run.

I should mention that I had previously installed TB successfully in the SUSE Linux 10.1 version in this way. But this does not work in 10.2.

It is very easy. If you have not already go to Yast =Online download configuartion. This will assign you a repository address. Then still in Yast go to Software Managment. Type thunderbird in the search. This should get you the Thunderbird package. Install it. Done

For more info on Yast this is a good source

Correction: You are right, that is the file which makes it run in 10.2 as well. In fact, TB 2.0 Beta 2 also works on 10.2 in this way. My apologies for not double checking before replying, Soadyp. Thank you.
