    Sound problem: Intel AC'97 Audio

Hi guys. I just installed (Re-installed actually) openSuSE 10.2 and it is running great. Unfortunately, I am having the same problem I had with Ubuntu 6.06 where the sound is not working and nothing I do seems to help.

    lspci returns this:
00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)
I have tried to install the proper alsa driver (intel8x0) and tried unmuting my audio channels. AFAIK, I succeeded. alsaconf does detect my sound and claims to have configured it, but when alsaconf tries the test sound I hear nothing. Amarok's test sound is equally silent to me.

I am at a loss as to where I've gone wrong or what to try next.

If it is an integrated sound card, check first if it is enabled in bios.

    Thanks for the response.

It is enabled in the bios, and works on Windows XP as I'm running dual boot.

    Sound problem Resolved

Thanks for your help, after a few reinstalls and attempts at using different packages, this one fixed my problems with my audio device (Integrated audio), Analog Devices ADI 198x.

Installed, rebooted, and everything works great.
