boot up from SuSe Installation CD/DVD and select 'Installation'. select 'Upgrade' option in next screen. dont select any new package. just click next, next and next. installer will install GRUB again.

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

You can also select installation, and then
select "Boot Installed System" instead of "Upgrade".

You get that option after your hardware gets scanned as part of the installation process.

Then run YaST and select System, then boot loader, and reinstall it.
