Rather than use a tarball (tar.gz) file, you'd probably be better off going to the opensuse site and grabbing the firefox RPM file for your suse version:

    http://software.opensuse.org/download/mozilla/

...then use YAST to install the package.

I don't run suse, so I'm unable to give any specifics for using YAST.

It is best to use Yast to install programs
    http://en.opensuse.org/YaST_Software_Management
Firefox should be there (depending on whatever version you are using)

I'm downloaded the same tar.gz file. You dont' need to install it. Extract, and run the file 'firefox'.
    Konsole:
    Code:
    ./firefox
