managed to turn on 5.1 surround in xmms, but the song doesn't play constantly. it plays well for about 30 secs, then it jumps to the middle of the song...then ...

xmms streaming problem
managed to turn on 5.1 surround in xmms, but the song doesn't play constantly. it plays well for about 30 secs, then it jumps to the middle of the song...then another 30secs... something like this. i don't know how to explain.
does anyone know how to fix this? i think it's a problem with the buffer or something.
in alsa
xmms->preferences->output plugin
alsa->configure
audio device : ch51dup
advanced tab-> buffer time : 200 ms
period time : 50 ms
buffer time : 3000 ms
this is the best configuration i managed to make so far... anyone knows how this things work?
audigy se souncard, opensuse 10.2, kernel 2.6.19.2, alsa driver 1.0.14rc2
pls help.
