It´s suse 10.2 realy a good desktop?

Don´t get me wrong folks, I like linux a lot but it´s realy givem me a lots a problem to use it.
I have needs of use lots of text in portuguese and this linguage requires caracteres not used in english and/or other idioms recently happen that i copy/paste a article of the net and sent into a mail list. all the recipients got crazy symbol.

there is anyone that have this problem? how to solve it?
