Ok, Anyone know why my computer hangs?
I have tried installing 3 distributions, Kubuntu, openSUSE, and Fedora Core 6. All of them lock up or freeze or hang(Depending on the term you like). I don't think there is anything wrong with my hardware because this does not happen when I have windows installed(XP or Vista).
The screen usally turns a bright color and sometimes as striped down it, when the computer locks up. Also, The computer is completely froze, you can't access the terminal by doing Ctrl + Alt + F1.
I would really like to learn Linux, and just getting used to it(XGL is awsome), but I can't if my computer locks up 24/7.
Specs.....
ASUS A8R-MX Motherboard
AMD 3400+ 64bit Processor
ATI Xpress 200M Integrated Video
512mb Memory(Duel Channel)
SATA Maxtor 150gig HDD

Not exactly sure why your computer hangs. But I'm thinking its something to do with your computer being too good

I've installed all these distro's on my AMD 1700+ with 512 mb and they are fine.
Also, are you sure you have been installing the 64 bit versions of each OS.

I have tried installing both the 64bit versions and the X86 versions, doesn't matter. This is the first time that this as happened. I figured linux locking up would be the least of my problems, linux is pretty stable.

Have you installed the ATI driver??
Are you sure it is the latest and the correct one for that chipset?

Yes, I got the drivers straight from Ati.Amd.com.
Also, Some distributions like Kubuntu freeze during the install. Fedora and openSUSE freeze when there done installing.

Were exactly in the install process does the computer lockup? Did you download and burn the disks yourself? If so what burn speed did you use, I prefer 4x myself to avoid corrupted files.
