Hmmm. Does the default path not work?? I'm about to do a install on a 10.2 machine next weekend and If there is a problem I would like to know. I don't have the 10.2 machine on hand at this time, and my machine is still at 10.1.

I think there is a vmware-any-to-any file that you may need.

vmware-any-any-update105.tar.gz is the one I used.

If you run it it should complete the installation.
It allows you to install vmware even if the kernel versions does not match

It is running on my OpenSuSE 10.2 notebook

I had similar problem encountered before. That is why I would as well choose all the sources during any first installations.

To your question, I suggest selecting all the sources from the OpenSuSE 10.2 DVD in the system update and make a reinstall.

    Hope this helps.

Right make sure of kernel source. I just installed VMware on a 10.2 system (I had not personaly installed it) and it was missing the gcc and kernel source. after installing these VMware installed without problem.

Now I'm running DOS in a VM.

Very strange situation, my freind needed to run an old POS-Video Rental I wrote in Clipper years ago. She did not want to change APPS and her old computer (6+ years running Win98 ) was getting long in the tooth. Also the App needed to be full screen (can't do that in XP/Vista?) Also she wanted to not allow her clerks to have access to internet games config etc. So Linux and VMware to the rescue. Got a cheap machine from a local dealer and installed 10.2. But the power supply was DOA so it went back to the dealer with the install CDs and they finished the instal thus no gcc or source.

I still have a bit of setup to do to allow backups etc but she is now running a DOS POS full screen.
