USB 2.0 Not working on suse 10.1

I'm trying to get my usb 2.0 functionality to work, it's working fine as 1.1 but thats just a bit too slow! I know that probably I will have to get an add-on card, but it seems if my usb is working as 1.1 why not 2.0? The usb is provided by my motherboard, an asus (eek) A7V8X-MX SE. Any ideas or suggestions?

How do you know it's rev. 1.1 and not 2.0? What's the output of lspci (run as root)?

That tells that you have 2.0 usb with 1.1 compatibility. What makes you think you are not getting 2.0 throughput?

When I goto System->Monitor->USB Devices, it lists my IPOD as being under the UHCI Controller and not the EHCI, also it lists the speed at 12mb/s which is of course is not USB 2.0, though it lists the ipod as being USB 2.0...

refer to the screenshot, maybe i'm getting it wrong?

If you have not already done so, the only other thing I can suggest is to check your BIOS usb configuration settings and make sure the usb 2.0 controller is Enabled and if you have a USB Mode speed setting see if that makes a difference.

    Good luck.

    No dice

The only option I could find in the bios related to usb was 'legacy something' so I've tried turning that off (hoping it would force usb 2.0) but all my connected devices are still running at usb 1.1 speeds.

Maybe I'll see if I can find a USB Pci card for cheap...
thanks for all your help rong
