    Mounting Hard drives

I have 3 external sata hard drives that I want to mount as samba shares. I have each drive set up as a ext3 Primary Partition. Each drive will be used by three different groups of users. If I understand what I have been reading the mount point can be any where. Right? Is there like a Best Practices for a mount point? I have a /mnt in / root. Should I make a /mnt in /home and then make a mount point there for each disk like: /mnt/sda1-disk, sda2-disk, and sda3-disk? And would this give all of the users all rights to do any thing with their own files?

with their own files according to what the root decides

and the location of the /mnt isn't critical it's just a shortcut
