    TEC: .ICEauthority??

    Dear all,

I have checked with several books I bought about .ICEauthority but did not find any clue what that is about, though it is giving me serious problem with the messages below:

No write access to 'home/peter/.ICEauthority' KDE is unable to start.
Could not start ksmserver. Check your installation.

This came so suddenly without anything particularly strange I did to the system yet it appeared after a normal reboot. Gnome is not able to start neither as it only quited back to the login window in tty7 quietly. My once beloved WindowMaker is still working fine though.

    Any idea guys?

    TEC: Problem solved

    Dear all,

I created a new account and compared both .ICEauthority

The problem which is now solved was actually due to the change of ownership and group membership. The system automatically change them to both root that my normal user account just don't have access to it.

But still, I don't have much idea what that particular file is about. Thoughts perhaps?
