    Need Help w Permissions

Hi! Everyone. I have Suse linux 10.1 installed & wkg ok. However, I'm having some problems with the Permissions crap. I'm trying to update a .bin file but when I go on the web to the server to get the update it connects allright but the file won't write the update. I get the Permission denied error. So I guess I need to give the update permission to write to the file.

I.m using the Genome terminal mode. I can't seem get the Genome super term mofe to work. This is what my prompt looks like in my Genome Terminal mode window when I start the terminal.

    dc@rn-kqs75q8rx6pj:~>

    When I type cd /usr I get
    dc@rn-kqs75q8rx6pj:/usr>

Can someone please explaine just what the dc@rn-kqs75q8rx6pj: means? And is the permission access is part of the dc@rn-kqs75q8rx8pj: And if so how to change it to allow permission. Thanks TDD&BKidd

dc is your user name, rn-kqs75q8rx6pj is the name of your computer. You probably need to run the script/app as root.

    su -
    [password]
    run your update.

Thank's for the help. I Right-clicked on the file and found the properties util & it seemed to have gave me a way to change the permissions. However, I will keep Your info close at hand. Thank's Again. TDD&BKidd.....
