Have a look at kopete or gaim. They should have been installed by default (I think) on suse 10.1.

    Hey Zach !!

Its simple.. open kopete... go thru the menu... u need to setup ur yahoo account in it (u can also setup additional accounts like AIM, ICQ, Hotmail) .. it wont prompt for userID and Passwd like normal yahoo messenger does.. Setup for the first time and it will open ur account automatically when u login.. (with the default settings) ..

    Regards ..

    LuckY !

You could try right-clicking on the kopete icon and going to "Set Status" -> "Online".

    Does that help?

In tthe past Yahoo has deliberatley made life diufficult when it comes to 3rd party software using their messaging protocol.
Try downloading the latest version of Kopete ( 0.12.2 ) here
