SuSE 10.0 installation problem
I've installed Suse linux 10.0 several times on my computer. Yesterday due to a problem I had to reinstall it in my computer. But after first reboot, the system does not startup properly( first reboot referring to reboot when we are just going to enter root password and etc.). When i hit escape for more info, it shows a message :
INIT: cannot start /sbin/mingetty:Permission denied: Disabling for 5 minutes
After waiting for hours and reinstalling several times, even with different media, same error occurred.
I am confident that it is not a problem with my computer because other distros including PCLinuxOS,Slackware etc work perfectly well-I have tried them after this problem occured.

Can you give us your hardware details? Specifically, what sort of harddrive are you trying to install SuSE onto?
Where did you get the SuSE disc? Have you checked its quality (I think there's an option to do that before installation)?Registered Linux user #388328 || Registered LFS user #15880

Hey as you said you have installed suse many times on your pc & it worked well so its seems that your hardware does not have any problem, but I thing that the iso or the cd is corrupted try burning new cd from the iso. & reinstall it.

Ichecked it
As I have already said, I have installed SuSe ON THIS SAME PC BEFORE.
Details, anyway:
AMD 3200+ 64 bits processor
2.2Ghz, 256MB RAM
80 GB hardrive(3 GBps,SATA,7200rpm)
The media is the official DVD from a book. I've used this same medium before. To anyway confirm, I used a new DVD too, of my friend, who has officially purchased it from SuSE Novell site.
One more message which i missed out:
INIT: respawning too fast....
This was printed in over a 100 lines and the others(INIT: could not load /sbin/mingetty: Permission denied) was printed around 10 lines.
Above all these lines, a message was there
system setup success.
Error in boot.load boot.preload
These and a few more boot.*
where *represents the boot problem was displayed.
The reason for all these were "Permission denied".
[ I assume that the phrase Permission denied along with each line stands for reason]
I have over 5 to 6 major distros in hand like Slackware, PCLinuxOS, Ubuntu,KUbuntuand other *nix like freebsd, but due to my experience of ease to install the OS as well as package upgradation made me like SuSE the most.
One last thing: always before, I have installed Xen only after installing the main part of the OS. These errors have started coming only after I tried to install Xen along wtih the mainstream OS.
So does anybody think that installing Xen after installing the base OS may resolve my problem?
Has anybody had this problem before?
If you've had, has it come only because of installing XEN along with mainstream(base) part of SuSE?
