For wireless use iwconfig. Check here for some details. For wired it's ifconfig.

Are you using KDE? If so you can go to YAST > Network Devices > Netword Card to verify/configure you settings.

Please clear up something first. Are you on wireless or wired? Isn't the 3945ABG wireless?

    sorry for the confusion.

I am now only concentrating on Wireless.

I have tried googling and after doing some changes...though it is not working...

    but.....

    i have noticed following...

when i use windows XP my wifi LED glows on my dell.
but when i use Suse 10.2 LED with Lock G or 9 glows

    when i do iwconfig
    it says

    lo no wireless network

    eth0 no wireless network

    sit0 no wireless network.....

but nothing like wlan0 or wlan1..where some other site tells to check,,,out...
so there is nothing like wlan in my iwconfig..

    other changes i made is...i went to /etc/sysconfig/ifcfg-wlan*(lot number00.)
in this file i made STARTMODE='auto'

thanks in advance for any help....
