I have dual booted my desktop with WIN XP & SUSE 10.2.. and now I wish to connect this on lan to my laptop..
it is an old P-II Fujitsu Lifebook L-340 with WIN 98 and 6 GB hard Disk in two partitions of 4.5 GB and 1.5 GB..

Please suggest is it necessary to dual boot laptop with SUSE..

You can use Vector Linux 5.8.I use it in my old laptop( 800MHz 64Mb).
Its a dualboot system with windows 2000. I find it really interesting.
You can also use Damn Small linux or Puppy Linux
Anyway you can check http://www.distrowatch.com for more information

    I DSL CD with me..
But will it serve my purpose of setting up a LAN at my clinic and letting me build up a patient database on my Desk top with 80 GB HHD (37GB Suse 10.2 Share)

I am a newb.. so let's have a simple LINUX DISTRO..

I'm not clear what your plan is here. Just to have the two computers sharing one database? Are you going to want internet connection as well ( I assume so)? Are you saying you are going to replace W98 on the laptop with Linux or do you want to be able to share Window system with the Linux on your desktop?

Try to detail out what you plan to do because the answers will be quite different depending on those details.

I have set up a LAN in my clinic with a desktop at my place and this laptop at my assistants place.. we both access a common database of my patients and we both access internet thru our pc & lap via this LAN coonected to a broadband..

i wish to retain Win98 on lap and add another Linux (Dual boot) that can serve my purpose of sharing (whatever you call it as) with my desktop SUSE10.2

I have no experience with Linspire so can't help with that. However, your challenge may come when you get to the 'sharing' part. You will most likely end up using Samba, the application that enables linux to windows sharing, and though I don't know the total amount of file space that that will take I'm guessing your 1.5G partition is not going to be enough.
