HOWTO ATI driver
wow talk about confusing directions for the ati drivers. I get this message when trying to install the driver. I have the direction printed out in front of me but it seems it cant detect what X window i have. x.org or free86?
I have looged on as a root user for this process and i have downloaded all the packages needed to install this driver. Most of them i had installed already but i have to be careful which package i installed fro the ati website. i have downloaded and ran the check.sh file but it does not know what x window system im running.
Any threads already posted or some more help would be appreciated. I already reinstalled linux vecause of this issue, I have to tell you my NVIDIA cars was much easier to install on linux but i no longer have it

Unless you require a bleeding edge driver from ATI then try adding the ATI repository to either YAST or ZMD so you can install the driver easily through "install software". See here http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_Ya...e_Repositories and scroll to almost the end of the page where you'll find the info on adding the ATI repository. Also this link should be useful http://en.opensuse.org/Howto/ATI_Driver
