I had the same concern you did about the warranty on my Dell laptop but I found a page that said you are fine to install whatever it is you please. I can't seem to find that page right now but the fact that Dell has Linux fourms goes to show that they are okay with it.

The Suse installation routine should give you the option to dual-boot. Just select that option when given the chance.

Probably easiest if you defrag Windows, then use GParted LiveCD to shrink the Windows partition, and then create the Linux partitions you want:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
You'll find good documentation for using Gparted on their website.
If you don't want to create the Linux partitions with Gparted, you can leave the extra space for the Suse installer to utilize.oz
