Where would I get the drivers for the Sil 3112 controller??? Been looking all over for it yet can't find it anywhere. Appreciate any help here...

    Where would I get the drivers for the Sil 3112 controller??? Been looking all over for it yet can't find it anywhere.

    The SATA controller is included in the kernel. Hardware RAID on that chipset is not supported in Linux, because it's not really hardware RAID (from what I've read). Someone had built a driver for the 2.4 kernels that would allow you to use a pre-existing array, but that was dropped in 2.6.

    If you want RAID, look at using Linux's software implementation. There are good arguments here for using a software solution, and some benchmarks here showing that performance with software RAID can be MUCH better than hardware.

    In my own experience, RAID doesn't help personal computers very much at all, and is more trouble than it's worth.
