    Hi All,

    I see that root/bin directory is empty on SuseDesktop 9. What could be the reason? How can I install the tools like awk, sed etc.

    It doesn't matter if /root/bin is empty.

    How can I install the tools like awk, sed etc.
    Have you tried running them?

    All should be allready installed and most basic Unix commands are in /bin not in /root/bin

    Also look in /sbin and /usr/sbin

    for various utilities
