suse linux knetwork manager not running two network cards
Hi. I use suse linux to run a server. I just installed suse 10.2. It installed fine. However when I tried configuring my LAN, I found out that I cannot run both my LAN and my internet connection at the same time. I have fixed my internet cable to an ethernet card. I have connected my other ethernet card to the switch that contols my LAN. In Yast when I click on the network cards I get the option use the traditional method or use the user controlled method with netork manager. If i use the traditional method I do not get the internet or the LAN. If I use the user controlled method I see an icon in the taskbar of knetworkmanager. When I click on this it gives me an option to activate either ehternet card. If I click on one I get the internet with no problems. If I click on the other I get access to the LAN. I am unable to use both at the same time. Could someone kindly help me with this.
Thanks

using two LAN cards together
Hi
I finally got both my LAN cards to work though I cannot explain how. I had earlier tried to disable knetwork manager after the installation and install different packages.
I then reinstalled Suse 10.2. In the installation itself I did not install knetwork manager. I also installed most of the server packages that were not installed by default. The two cards then worked well together.
I cannot explain this. HOwever I am left with the opinion that the network manager though good for switching between networks is not useful for running two cards together.
I dont have a wireless LAN thus I could not try out the option you suggested. But it would be interesting to see if just going wireless would solve the problem.
Thanx
