    Problem with torrents

    Hi
I just installed Suse 10.2. I tried downloading a file using Ktorrent, the download is very slow (about 1kbps or less) and most often shows "Stalled" than downloading. I have changed the settings as 1 kbps upload and 0 for download still there is no improvement, it shows that there are a few seeds available but the download just doesnt go thru.
I also tried a download thru the torrent client in Opera... it shows a little better performance at about 3 - 4 kbps but the problem is it doesnt stay for long... the browser window closes itselves after a few minutes without any reason.
I am using a 256 Kbps DSL connection and i used to get a decent download speed of 24 - 30 kbps when i used Bittornado on my previous OS.
    Please help.

    thanx

I haven't tried this torrent client yet, but as far as I know this "stalled" can mean that the disk was not able to keep up with the read/write speed. Also you should check your firewall settings, or forward a port, if you are using a router to connect to the internet.

How do you connect to the Internet? Is your computer part of a local network?

Try going to settings and be sure all the plugins are active, this helped me.

    Two things

    Two things:

    1) Try a different Bittorrent client. I personally like azureus. It works wonders. Google for it or http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

    2) Try a different torrent. It sounds like there are not many seeds on that torrent. Try something popular that you know will be well seeded. A good example would be the SUSE install disks for 10.2.

If you arent getting good speed then be patient. Let the torrent run for a little while. It takes time to get well established.
