It is best you use a seperate partitioner like Partition Magic or gparted to resize any exiting partitions. Also you should defrag the old partitioins before you resize. PM is commercial gparted is free

    can get here
    http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php

Ok then I assume you want to remove RH.

In that case simply remove the old RH partitions then install Suse in the free space left or you could install over the old RH. Did RH install in mutiple partitons ie swap root, home? If so you could save any data in RH /home by simply not formating it. It is the best way since you can save your old personal data. Seems to that RH default is to install simply a swap and root (home is then in root)

If perchance you do have a home partition and you want to keep it it is best to delete any config files in your home since there may be incompatable settings between distros.

    hope that helps
