SuSe 9.2 Install Problem
Hi folks,
When I first got into Linux, I was dual-booting Windows & Suse. Then I got rid of Windows and installed Red Hat. Then MandrakeLinux, and Slackware after that. Always with a boot disk. But I liked SuSe purely because of all the development tools bundled with the DVD, although to install Slackware takes half an hour, but SUSe takes three hours!!
My Problem is once I've installed everything, and reboot, all I get is 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 loads of times!!!

Is there a reason you installed 9.2 instead of 10.2?

SuSe 9.2
Ah, well...
The reason for 9.2?
I've got a crap machine! I always try to keep to older distros and just add the latest versions of software, so that my PC runs quite quickly!
I took one look at the required specs for v10 and put it straight back!!

Suggestions for the very old SUSE-9.2
Assuming you are using Grub as your boot manager, did you try to boot selecting the "safe" mode? (or do you get that far?).

And if all else fails (and if you think grub is your problem, you could try using lilo as your boot manager).

Grub v LILO
I had problems with GRUB before, so I picked LILO this time and put everything on the boot floppy. Because it takes ten times longer to install SuSe, I just wiped it and went back to SlackWare.

Suse 9.2
I'm back th a working version of Suse, although, using a SiS display on PCI as opposed to the intel 810 AGP, when I try to alter the resolution, the screen goes black, and the machine dies.

Wait, I'm confused. What's your graphics card? SiS or Intel?

Graphics...
What I meant was that the Gateway PC that I have has an Intel 810 AGP graphics card on board, but I put in an SiS PCI card, because it has more on-board. The problem is that, during install, the process stops at the hardware screen and goes black with the SiS. With the Intel, I am stuck with 640x480, which is no use. Any ideas?
