    can you post the output from:

    ifconfig eth0
    ... assuming you only have one card and it is eth0.

    It should look similar to this (mine is 100mbps though):

    eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:09:6B1:A3:B0
    inet addr:10.171.12.114 Bcast:10.171.12.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
    inet6 addr: fe80::209:6bff:fed1:a3b0/64 Scope:Link
    UP BROADCAST NOTRAILERS RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
    RX packets:33891 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
    TX packets:5745 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
    collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
    RX bytes:3695836 (3.5 Mb) TX bytes:1332057 (1.2 Mb)

    You could try installing an IDE drive and installing the OS on it using LVM. Once Suse 10.2 is running, re-install the SATA drive and place it in the same volume group (probably named "system") as the OS (command "vgextend") and then move the data from the IDE drive to the SATA drive (command "pvmove"). Be sure to move ALL the partitions (swaps and boots included). Lastly remove the IDE drive from the volume group (command "vgreduce"). Before physically removing the IDE drive, attempt a reboot. If it comes back alright, shutdown the box, remove the IDE drive, and put it back where it came from.

    I've read a lot about other problems people have been having getting their system to install to SATA drives too.
