suse 10.2 files

downloaded firefox 2.0.0.2.tar.gz , unpacked it but it wont start. tried setting the
"permissions" to "is executable" but unable start it even then.
downloaded realplay --latest version. a "bin" file. tryed running it with "sudo sh chmod
755/reallplayer...etc... but that did not work.
for both files i expected them to update both programs without having to delete
the original ones that came with suse10.2.

anyone have a clue as what to do?
