I have a cable modem and a Dlink fast ethernet card. During this installation it recognizes the Dlink card and is set for dhcp but I have no internet connection. Could someone give me a idea as to why it does this? No matter what version of Linux I try to install this happens and I don't know why. I am now trying SUSE and have tried Ubuntu and Fedora Core 6 with same result. I have used Linux before but not since Fedora Core 3 and haven't used in 3 years or better. Try not to give me to hard of a time in response. The cable is plugged and and working on my 2 Windows box just fine, but just connect with any version of Linux. I have tried finishing install and trying to install the drivers but they never compile following the Dlink instructions. If anyone could tell me how to get my internet connection in Linux I would greatly appreciate it. All my hardware is Linux compatible, I checked god knows how many list to make sure.

It shows up as
NAME IP Address
D-link VT6105 [Rhine-III] DHCP

The error message I get after it says connection failed is:

eth0 device:VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6105 [Rhine-III] (rev 86)
eth0 configuration: eth-id-00:19:5b:68:d3:e8
DHCP client is already running on eth0

It does same thing connecting straight to modem.
